Last December, WWE started to air vignettes to hype the return of Liv Morgan. The former Riott Squad member had been off of TV for a while. As soon as it was mentioned that she would be returning, fans started to speculate on what their plans were for her.
At the top of this list was the idea that she would join Bray Wyatt in The Firefly Funhouse. She would ostensibly taking on the role that was later given to Alexa Bliss and it made a lot of sense at the time. Morgan had been criminally misused for far too long. A stint beside The Fiend would get her over in the way she deserved.
The Storyline to Start This Past New Year
Instead, she was inserted into the Lana/Rusev/Lashley storyline that just wouldn’t f*cking die, but the twist was Liv and The Ravishing Russian had been lovers. She came out and dropped that bomb on their wedding day/night/show.
Instantly, fans across the globe demanded that the WWE checked all of its cupboards and hiding spots. Obviously Vince Russo had somehow gotten back in the building, but no, we were wrong. This was “Shock TV!” just the way that McMahon Jr. liked it.
Thankfully, the story was eventually taken out the back and shot in January, never to be seen again.
Lana Says Maybe It Didn’t Die Though
According to Lana, however, this might not be the case. Speaking to Sportskeeda she said:
I can see the story picking up any time, any day. You know? Like I think it’s a very, very compelling story and I would love to revisit it. So, that’s what I was told. That we’re going to revisit it at some point. So, I’m looking forward to revisiting it at some point.”
Lana and Liv are very good friends in real life, so it isn’t a surprise that they’d like to work with each other again. They already have a tailor-made plot waiting in the wings for them. No matter how f*cking terrible it is. Is it really that much of a stretch of the imagination to think it could happen?
Tag Titles Could Start It
The woman’s tag-team titles are defended across both brands and with the Riott Squad currently being at the head of the list to challenge for them. Then if Lana and Asuka do defeat Jax and Baszler at TLC and retain in the inevitable rematch. There’s nothing to stop the company from dusting down the greatest love story since, er, “Love Story.” WWE could force The Empress of Tomorrow and Ruby Riott to play second fiddle to Big Vinnie’s obsession with girl-on-girl action.
What do you think of this? Should it stay in the cupboard or come out to play? Would want to see Lana and Liv together? Let us know in the comments below.
