The Bump – September 15th

Ronda Rousey, Matt Cardona, AJ Styles, and Dominik Mysterio

Welcome to Tuesday’s edition of The Bump! Yesterday we talked about Jeff Hardy bringing Willow back, members of WWE’s Department of Live Events being fired, SmackDown’s mystery lady possibly being revealed and the question of whether Serena Deeb has signed with AEW. Make sure you check it out. Let The Bump get you completely up to date.

And with that it mind…

The Bump Take: Ronda Rousey Coming Back?

Teal Piper, Rowdy Roddy Piper’s daughter, has posted Instagram pics of her and Ronda Rousey working out together. Rousey hasn’t wrestled since she dropped the Raw Women’s Title to Becky Lynch in a triple threat match at WrestleMania 35. She took a hiatus that has now lasted well over a year to start a family. Now Rousey has been spotted in a ring. Is it for a comeback to pro wrestling soon? Or is she just helping Piper to get back into shape? Piper has been out of action for the last six months after having ACL/meniscus reconstruction surgery. Keep watching The Bump for further updates on this situation.

Matt Cardona Looking Forward to Working With New Japan

During a recent Matt Cardona’s Twitter Q&A, he was asked if he would consider competing for New Japan Pro Wrestling. His answer was: “100%.” With the travel restrictions and quarantines that you have to go through right now. Cardona knows it isn’t possible at this time. AEW contracts allow many stars to compete in New Japan as a part of the AEW roster. The only restriction is they can’t compete in the United States for them or any other company. It was recently said that Miro has the same clause in his contract.

The Bump Special: AJ Styles Upset Over Missing Son’s Games

AJ Styles was on Raw until he asked to be moved to SmackDown to get away from Paul Heyman. However, Heyman was fired soon after. SmackDown had been taped on Monday or Tuesday every week. Now though, Vince McMahon has moved Friday Night SmackDown back to a live show in the Amway Center. According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Styles is angry because he now has to miss his son’s high school football games on Friday night. Also, fans can’t help but notice that Paul Heyman is now on SmackDown with Roman Reigns. Is this going to cause problems? Will one of them be moving back to Raw soon in the draft? Keep up with the latest on this with The Bump.

Dominik Mysterio Felt the Kendo Stick Made Him Accepted By Other Wrestlers

During the WWE Network Special ‘The Day Of: SummerSlam 2020′, they took a deep dive into Dominik Mysterio’s feud with Seth Rollins. Dominik rose to the occasion and took a brutal kendo stick beating in the build up to their big match. Rey Mysterio said that he had the impression that Dominik wanted to take those kendo stick shots. It was a sign for Dominik that: “I’m here with the big boys, I’m accepted, and I took a whooping for it.”

I thought it was extremely impressive, especially as he continued to wrestle as he was healing. I have been shocked at how good Dominik has looked. Of course, working with Seth Rollins has to help, but still at times he looks better than some on the main roster. It is hard to remember at times that he is a rookie. I’m looking forward to watching Dominik get better and better.
