We All Need a Theme Tune—Now Atlanta Has Theirs!

United We Stand

Theme music is perhaps more important to a wrestling show than we perhaps realize.

The opening titles of an episode of weekly wrestling TV function as a shop window for the potential new viewer, and it sets the tone for the content we’re about to see, The more memorable the theme music, the more likely it is to do its job of getting the fans pumped up for what they’re about to see, and when combined with fantastic action, the impact it has on you is indelible. It’s no surprise I can still hum the pumped-up, rumbling music from WCW Monday Nitro, or that I can fondly recall Marilyn Manson’s ‘Beautiful People’ and it suited the wild action of the Attitude Era on SmackDown.

Now Championship Wrestling from Atlanta, the exciting new promotion and show from the United Wrestling Network, has revealed the theme music that will open the show each and every week on Peachtree TV.

Created by John Kiernan, who has composed music for both Championship Wrestling from Hollywood and Championship Wrestling from Memphis, ‘Action in Atlanta’ is a perfect representation of the United Wrestling Network and the kind of wrestling it represents: traditional but modern, family-friendly, and fun.

Full of crunching power chords and squealing lead guitar, ‘Action in Atlanta’ is bright, airy, fun, and packs a real punch. This isn’t nostalgia, like ‘Into the Power’ on NWA Powerrr (not a criticism by the by, I love the song) and it isn’t a generic rock or nu-metal number, a go-to for many promotions since the late 90s. John Kiernan has created something that really sticks in your head—I had it in my head for about three hours on Friday night, and I’d only heard it once at that point!

It’s a clever promotion that can find the right theme tune to represent their brand perfectly; kudos to Championship Wrestling from Atlanta and John Kiernan for doing just that.

Check out ‘Action in Atlanta’ here, or tune into Championship Wrestling from Atlanta on September 18th on Peachtree TV!

Tickets are still on sale for the inaugural Championship Wrestling from Atlanta TV tapings this Thursday, September 2nd, from the historic Centre Stage theatre in Atlanta, GA. You can pick your tickets here. Don’t delay—book our seats today!
