WWE Power Rankings—Week Ending August 14th

It’s been another strong week for WWE as they continue to slowly but strongly rebuild themselves under the guidance of Triple H. This week saw the secondary titles get some much-needed love and attention, and on top of another surprise appearance and some storyline developments, it’s made for an interesting set of WWE Power Rankings this week.

Let’s get into it!

5. Iyo Sky & Dakota Kai

Bayley Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai soak up the surprise of the SummerSlam crowd and make the WWE Power Rankings

Bayley’s ladies keep up the momentum and continue to inject some new life into the Raw women’s division, beating Dana Brooke and Tamina in the first round of the Women’s Tag Team Title Tournament. Raquel Gonzalez and Aliyah also progressed to the next round, and if this was a top ten WWE Power Rankings, then Gonzalez and Aliyah would be in spot number 6, but as it’s a ranking of five, and Kai-Sky are the hotter team right now, they get the nod for number five on this week’s WWE Power Rankings.

4. Dexter Lumis

Dexter Lumis is dragged away by police on Raw and straight into the WWE Power Rankings

The return of the NXT releases continues as Dexter Lumis, a man who should never have been released in the first place, made a surprise return on this week’s RawIt’s been a long time since WWE did a surprise return in an exciting manner (pre-SummerSlam), and the mystery of the crashed car backstage and the police dragging Lumis away at the conclusion of the show has certainly got my intrigued. We’re all talking about Lumis, earning him the number spot on this week’s WWE Power Rankings.

3. Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey has revealed some advicen Vince McMahon has given her.

Really, this should be Liv’s spot for standing up to Shayna Baszler and driving her through a table, but the crowd’s stupid chanting of “You tapped out!” ruined that. Yeah, it was stupid booking at SummerSlam—don’t be d***s and punish Liv for it.

Anyway, Ronda Rousey made a power play of her own this week, jumping the barrier before the contract signing between Bayler and Liv could begin, announcing how she had been fined and suspended before dumping a bagful of money on the table and beating a gaggle of security up—nothing like paying your fines in advance!

More intriguingly, Shayna told Rousey off for doing this, so Rousey asked her what had become of the killer Baszler used to be. Now, if we get a Rousey-Baszler feud moving forward, that would be something…

2. Bobby Lashley

Bobby Lashley celebrates winning the US Title

Bobby Lashley is on a roll at the moment, and he continued that this week with a win over Ciampa in what turned out to be a very competitive match, which made Ciampa look good as well as Lashley. Win-win. Another successful title defence by ‘The Almighty’ puts him at number two on this week’s WWE Power Rankings.

1. Gunther

Gunther holds the Intercontinental title aloft

The artist formally known as WALTER had his first real test this week as he successfully defended the belt against Shinsuke Nakamura in a hard-hitting match that has had the internet buzzing. The Intercontinental Title has not been treated this seriously in decades, and with one match and a couple of pre-match promos, the belt has a new level of buzz and that is an exciting proposition indeed. As Gunther is the successful reigning and defending champion, that puts him at number one on this week’s WWE Power Rankings.
