End Of Year Awards 2021: Top 10 Promos

Promos. They are some of the hardest things a wrestler has to do – outside of throwing themselves around in a ring – and they can make or break a character in just a few short sentences. Throughout wrestling history, we’ve seen some career-making promos – such as The Rock ripping Billy Gunn a new one or Randy Savage telling everyone how the cream of the crop will always rise to the top – and we’ve seen some promos that have left the person either on the outs with whatever promotions they were in, or at least a laughing stock. After all, who can forget Sid’s “Half the brain…” promo from WCW? Or Nikki Bella telling her identical twin sister Brie that she wished that she had died in the womb. I mean…Jesus…

Promos are not an easy art form to do, and an even more difficult one to tame, which is why we here at Sports Obsessive Towers have decided that our End Of The Year Awards for 2021 will kick off with those wrestlers who absolutely killed it on the mic last year. Having seen what PWI have done with their top five million – or however many it is – lists over the years, me and the evil genius Andrew Grevas decided that we could do better, so we set about bringing together a crack team of wrestling writers and personalities and have them vote on seven separate categories, and now that all the votes are in and tallied – all hail The Grevas, as that would’ve driven me nuts – it’s time to bring you the first-ever Sports Obsessive End Of The Year Awards for 2021 article, celebrating those 10 men and women who have taken promos into another realm during the past 12 months.
