Former NXT Champion Karrion Kross Returns With a Vengence

The Prince Is Back

Last night’s episode of NXT on the USA Network saw former NXT Champion, Karrion Kross back after being forced to give up his Championship. First though, it began with Finn Balor, the current NXT Champion, addressing his absence. He said that the time for “team sports” is over meaning NXT: WarGames. The Prince is back. If anybody has a problem with him then they need to see him in the ring. He was quickly interrupted by Pete Dunne. Dunne pointed out the similar paths between the two. Before Dunne could get too far into his challenge, they were stopped once again by Balor’s NXT Takeover 31 opponent, Kyle O’Reilly of the Undisputed Era.

Kyle O’Reilly admitted defeat to both Dunne and Balor. However, he pointed out his team bested the Bruiserweight’s at NXT Takeover: WarGames and that he broke the inaugural Universal Champion’s jaw. Kyle put Finn out of action for two months. As the three superstars exchanged words in the ring, they were interrupted once more. This time, former NXT North American Champion Damien Priest made his way down to call out the Prince. He said that Finn Balor vs Damien Priest is a true marquee match.

The Three Talk, But Can They Do The Walk?

Dunne and O’Reilly took exception to this and all three desired challengers exchanged insults as the NXT Champ quietly exited the ring. Balor headed back up the ramp to the backstage area. The Archer of Infamy, Damien Priest asked Balor where he thought he was going. Balor responded by saying that it’s not his job to make matches. That responsibility belongs to NXT General Manager, William Regal.

The Former NXT Champion, Karrion Kross Is Back

Before Finn could make his exit, he was stopped one more time by Scarlett, the wife of the previous NXT Champion, Karrion Kross. Kross, of course, was forced to relinquish the title less than a week after acquiring it. This was due to a shoulder injury that he suffered in his victory over Keith Lee. Scarlett did not say a word. She chose to instead circle Finn Balor and merely just make her presence known.

Later on in the show, as Damien Priest came out to confront the NXT North American Champion, Johnny Gargano, but the man formerly known as Killer Kross attacked Priest from behind. He proceeded to powerbomb Priest through a table. Karrion Kross walked confidently and slowly towards the door. Then Kross hopped in his car and drove away with Scarlett. As Priest had to be helped away after the attack.

What Does Karrion Kross Want? The Championship? Or Damien Priest?

It’s clear that Karrion Kross is not going to accept fading out of the title picture. He is determined to regain the title that he never lost. Kross seems hellbent on taking out anybody in his way on his path to a showdown with Finn Balor. I would not be surprised to see a similar attack next week on Pete Dunne or Kyle O’Reilly, perhaps even both. All signs point to Finn Balor vs Karrion Kross for the NXT Championship at New Years Evil, just as I predicted earlier in the week.
