WWE Hell in a Cell 2022 Predictions

This year’s Hell in a Cell PPV has suffered from a strange build-up that has seen a lot of the matches announced in the last week or so—at the time of writing, there were only six matches announced for the show!

Lucky for us, what has been announced appears to be a solid card, with a couple of big matches that should be brilliant if given enough time and the right booking.

Jon Shartzer, Katrina Blake and Chris Flackett are here for Sports Obsessive to give you the only Hell in a Cell predictions you need. So without further adieu, let’s get into it!

No Holds Barred Match: Madcap Moss vs. Happy Corbin

Chris: I like Madcap Moss; I actually think he has more potential than Vince’s chosen one, Theory. So with that in mind, I’ll be glad when he blows off this feud with Happy Corbin with a win here at Hell in a Cell.

Prediction: Madcap Moss

Jon: I feel like this is the 30th time that we’ve seen Moss vs. Corbin. I can only imagine that this will be the final match between the two before they (hopefully) put a bow on this story. Give Madcap the victory and let’s all move on with our lives.

Prediction: Madcap Moss

Katrina: I’m going with Madcap; I think it’s a good way to establish him leaving Corbin.

Prediction: Madcap Moss

United States Champion Theory vs. Mustafa Ali

WWE Hell in a Cell 2022 Theory vs. Mustafa Ali title card

Chris: Theory is the chosen one and Ali is the unreleased one. That should say a lot in itself, but I don’t expect Theory to lose here. Will it be a clean one? Probably not. Ciampa might intervene in proceedings. I’d rather see Theory lose cleanly though if they’re going to build him up.

Prediction: Theory

Jon: Vince McMahon sees Theory as the next John Cena. Mustafa Ali went through a very public spat with the chairman of the board. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see where this one is going. It should be a great match if given time, but Theory is definitely leaving as United States Champion.

Prediction: Theory

Katrina: While I would love Ali to get this win, especially after everything, I see Theory keeping his title.

Prediction: Theory

Liv Morgan, Finn Balor & AJ Styles vs. Rhea Ripley Damian Priest & Edge

Judgement Day six man tag title card

Chris: Judgement Day only seems to be getting bigger and stronger with each PPV, and with Edge’s recent teases on social media of new members joining, I fully expect a new face to appear out of the ether during this match and tip the scales further into Judgement Day’s favour.

Jon: Is this where Finn turns on Styles and joins Judgement Day? Could be, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if they swerved us and had Liv do it instead. Either way, I have a feeling that Edge’s stable will win and expand in the process.

Prediction: Rhea Ripley Damian Priest & Edge

Katrina: Judgement Day is on the path of domination and so I see them taking this match.

Prediction: Rhea Ripley Damian Priest & Edge

Bobby Lashley vs. Omos & MVP

Hell in a Cell 2022 Omos & MVP vs Lashley title card

Chris: I don’t like to say it, but if they want to use this match to build Omos up, then Lashley needs to take the loss here, and I think he will do. And I have no problem with a star of Lashley’s calibre losing to help build up a new star—but does it have to be Omos?

Prediction: Omos and MVP

Jon: Like Cody and Seth, it’s time to end this storyline. Common sense, at least to me, says that Omos and MVP are going to be victorious here. Surely they didn’t run this whole story just to have Omos lose and end up where he started, right? I know it’s WWE, but that would make absolutely no sense. Sorry, Almighty, back to the L train for you.

Prediction: Omos and MVP

Katrina: While Bobby will get his licks in, Omos is dominating as well. Plus, he has MVP on his side. I’m going with Bobby losing this and Omos and MVP winning.

Prediction: Omos and MVP

Kevin Owens vs. Ezekiel

Hell in a Cell 2022 Kevin Owens vs Ezekiel title card

Chris: I still can’t make my mind up about this feud, but I’m glad Elias—sorry, Ezekial!—is being used. I think he’ll win here at Hell in a Cell to further frustrate and anger Kevin Owens and set up a rematch later.

Prediction: Ezekiel

Jon: Admittedly, I’m not the biggest fan of the Ezekiel gimmick. Kevin Owens, however, is always gold. I feel like this has to come down to an Ezekiel victory to send KO spiralling deeper into his paranoia and rage. Hopefully, this kicks their story into another gear.

Prediction: Ezekiel

Katrina: With this storyline, it seems Ezekiel has always been one step ahead of Owens, or he has at least outsmarted Kevin. Kevin is owed a win so my pick is Kevin Owens.

Prediction: Kevin Owens

Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair vs. Asuka vs. Becky Lynch

Bianca Belair vs. Asuka vs. Becky Lynch title card

Chris: This, of course, was not the match that was supposed to happen, as Naomi was supposed to be the challenger here. Still, it should be a solid match, considering the talent involved, and if anything us fans have probably got the better end of the deal here. Bianca will no doubt retain, allowing the Becky-Asuka feud to continue afterwards.

Prediction: Bianca Belair

Jon: I can’t help but feel like Asuka was thrown into this match just to take the pin. It’s unfortunate, but that’s the WWE way. My guy tells me that Bianca will retain all the way up until SummerSlam. Should be an interesting match, but one nonetheless with Belair walking out the same way she came in: as Raw Women’s Champion.

Prediction: Bianca Belair

Katrina: While I love Asuka, I do think Bianca will retain. The real story is Becky and Asuka (with Asuka never losing the title) and I think that will play out a bit more. I also don’t see Bianca dropping the title just yet.

Prediction: Bianca Belair

Hell in a Cell Match: Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins

Hell in a Cell 2022 Cody vs. Seth Rollins title card

Chris: So far, so good: Cody has not been buried in WWE yet. In fact, he has been treated like he’s a big deal, which is an encouraging sign to this Cody fan. Seth Rollins has been the right first feud for Cody, and the pair have put on a pair of exciting confrontations on PPV so far. WWE perhaps fudged the booking a bit; if Seth had gone over at WrestleMania Backlash, then this would have made more sense as a rubber match. Still, Seth can take the loss without harming his position and Cody can use this as a launching pad for an even bigger feud.

Prediction: Cody Rhodes

Jon: I’m assuming that this will be the blowoff match between these two after facing off at both WrestleMania and WrestleMania Backlash. All of their matches have been solid, but this should be a banger to close their story out. Cody winning is the only logical outcome, whether I like it or not. The real question is: who’s next for Cody?

Prediction: Cody Rhodes

Katrina: Cody has gotten two wins already against Seth. While I respect Cody’s momentum, I don’t see Seth losing all of their matchups. While I do think the feud has run its course, it doesn’t make sense to me to have Seth lose all of them.

Prediction: Seth Rollins
