Our very own Griffin Kaye, Jeremy Thomas, Joel Kanenan, Jon Shartzer and Katrina Blake are here to give you their insight into how they believe the big matches at the Clash are going to go down.

So without further adieu, let’s get into our Clash at the Castle predictions!

WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther vs. Sheamus

Griffin: Perhaps the match wrestling fans are most looking forward to, this hoss-fest should be thoroughly entertaining, with Sheamus’s appearance likely due to his locality (in WWE terms at least) to Cardiff. A report of a Gunther burial emerged a few weeks ago saying that this had been on the books, but was now unlikely. Also, Gunther seems to be the future whilst Sheamus has not been on a big push for the IC belt. My money is on Gunther.

Winner: Gunther

Jeremy: This match could be the highlight of the show. Gunther has made the Intercontinental title relevant again. He has been having excellent promos and matches on SmackDown as well. As much as I like Sheamus, Gunther can’t lose this match.

Prediction: Gunther

Joel: Sheamus vs. Gunther in Europe? Let’s get violent! This one has ‘match of the night’ potential written all over it, and it should be a memorable Intercontinental Championship match. These are two of the roughest and toughest athletes in all of wrestling and will face each other for the first time ever. Gunther has been brilliant as champion and is one of the best NXT call-ups in recent memory. Interestingly, the IC title is the one accolade never held by Sheamus, but I don’t quite see him getting it here quite yet.

Prediction: Gunther

Jon: This is going to be a FIGHT. The Cardiff crowd is going to breathe immense energy into these two monsters as they beat the holy hell out of each other and I’m here for it. Gunther’s chops are going to paint Sheamus’ pale chest a violent mixture of red and purple. Sheamus is perfect for putting Gunther over and establishing him as a dominant Intercontinental Champion.

But not so fast, there’s only one title that has eluded Sheamus during his entire career in the WWE. That’s right…the Intercontinental Championship. With Cardiff being, in his own words, just a stone’s throw away from where the Celtic Warrior grew up, could now be the time to crown him as the first-ever “Ultimate Grand Slam Champion”? Probably not, but the possibility is definitely one worth keeping an eye on. Gunther should pick up the defining victory here, though.

Prediction: Gunther

Katrina: This will be a hard-hitting fantastic match-up. Both men are talented and I see them bringing their A game. As much as I love Sheamus, I do think Gunther will retain.

Prediction: Gunther

Seth Rollins vs. Matt Riddle

Griffin: Built for a while without a pay-off due to injury, we finally get the showdown here. Rollins, although not losing much credibility, has seen a 1-6 win/loss record this year on PPVs, with his only win via DQ. Although Riddle is returning, I feel as if Rollins will win, getting his first large-scale legitimate victory in a while.

Winner: Seth “Freakin’” Rollins

Jeremy: This one is a tough one to predict. If Riddle is going to be a main event player then he has to start beating main event talent in singles matches. I don’t think that it will happen at Clash at the Castle. Seth Rollins has been on a losing streak at premium live events and this is where it ends.

Prediction: Seth Rollins

Joel: Another match that has excellent potential. I’m loving this Clash at the Castle card, and can’t wait for the show. Riddle and Rollins have been going back and forth for some time now, and I am ready to see them fight it out on a big stage. Predicting this one is tough. Seth has been on the losing end of several big feuds, so a win would be sensible. However Riddle feels like a rising megastar, so having him beat Seth would add credibility to that ascension.

Prediction: Seth Rollins

Jon: I’m still bitter that this match didn’t take place at SummerSlam so that I could see it in person. But such is life. The story needed a little bit more time to breathe before we got a payoff. The build that this match has received over the last few weeks has been excellent, especially on the go-home episode of Raw. With Triple H in charge, these guys should be able to take it back a little bit to their indy days and put on one hell of a wrestling match. The winner is almost a toss-up to me. Riddle getting the victory over the former Universal Champion would do wonders for him. But Rollins also needs a win after losing the series against Cody Rhodes. Ultimately, I think Seth takes one more loss, but this may not be over yet.

Prediction: Matt Riddle

Katrina: Seth Rollins has been killing it as a heel. However, he has gotten the one up on Matt too many times. I do think Matt will win this.

Prediciton: Matt Riddle

Bailey, Dakota Kai & Iyo Sky vs. Bianca Belair, Asuka & Alexa Bliss

Credit: WWE

Griffin: Under regular circumstances, I would feel nervous that the new faction would see an early loss. Yet, under management from Hunter, who takes a keen interest in his graduates, a win for the soon-to-be-named Damage CNTRL seems more likely and is the right decision. Perhaps Alexa Bliss is the one pinned. If I were a betting man, I would reckon Dakota gets the pin—why not?

Winner: Bayley, Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky

Jeremy: Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky surprisingly didn’t win the belts in the tag team tournament. This match is going to be used to set up an eventual Raw women’s championship match between Bayley and Bianca Belair that I am personally excited to see.

Prediction: Bayley, Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky

Joel: This match has been well built since Bayley, Dakota Kai and IYO SKY re-debuted at SummerSlam, and it should be one of the most exciting contests of the night. After their surprising loss in the tag team championship match, I would say Damage CTRL has a better shot of winning. Is this the spot for a Sasha and Naomi return?

Prediction: Bayley & Dakota Kai & IYO SKY

Katrina: As much as I love me some Bianca and Asuka, I don’t think even them teaming up with Alexa will help. I do think this will be a great match, but after Dakota and IYO lost out on the tag team belts, this would be a good way to get momentum back on their side.

Prediction: Bayley, Dakota and IYO.

Jon: Maybe it’s just me, but this feels more like a match that should have been held out a little longer for Survivor Series. All six of these women are amazing competitors, though. The mix of athleticism and experience will more than likely result in some fun spots throughout the match.

It just doesn’t make sense to debut this new stable and have them lose in their first ppv match. Bayley and company have all of the momentum at the moment and I don’t see that slowing down so quickly. Bianca, Alexa and Asuka should all go on to their own things after this and let them all shine. But Saturday will not be their day.

Prediction: Bayley, Dakota Kai & IYO SKY

SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan vs. Shayna Baszler

Griffin: Morgan is apparently set to be on a slow-cook per se for a heel turn. It still feels as if Morgan and Rousey are unfinished in their feud. Baszler does, in a way, need this win after nerfing to death on the main roster but Liv seems the more obvious choice to walk away with the title belt in some way, shape, or form. A credible win would help cement Morgan after the controversial finish previously, but Morgan has never been booked in the strongest fashion.

Winner: Liv Morgan

Jeremy: WWE has made it a point to make Liv Morgan look as weak a champion as possible and they will do so again here. I believe that Ronda Rousey will interfere to keep the belt on Morgan. I envision Rousey attacking Baszler while she has Morgan ready to tap out to the Kirifuda Clutch.

Prediction: Shayna Baszler by DQ (Morgan retains)

Joel: An exciting match where Liv actually gets some offense in would be extremely beneficial to her young reign. Liv certainly has a large fan base, myself included, who want to see more out of the champion. Shayna has been elevated under HHH’s creative reign, but I don’t see her as champ; she’ll probably end up in a feud with Ronda Rousey.

Prediction: Liv Morgan

Katrina: I wasn’t a fan of Liv being champ, honestly. I respect that she has gotten better and I’m sure she’s a lovely lady. With that being said, she isn’t ready to be the SmackDown Women’s champ. I can usually root for the underdog, but in this case, I can’t. Shayna needs some upswing, and she is badass for the most part, I wouldn’t mind seeing her as champ over Liv. So, with all biasedness, I am going with Shayna to win.

Prediction: Shayna

Jon: I’m sorry, but Liv Morgan as champion just hasn’t been working for me. If she’s your thing, that’s great. I don’t dislike Liv at all. I’m just not feeling her as the leader of Smackdown’s women’s division.

On the other hand, I believe that Shayna Baszler is way past due for a stint as the flag bearer of one of WWE’s main roster brands. The Queen of Spades has proven her worth all over the world, including cementing her place as one of NXT’s greatest champions ever, regardless of gender.

The possibility of pitting Shayna Baszler against her training partner and friend, Ronda Rousey, for a major championship will ultimately be too good to pass up as The Game continues to mold the future of WWE.

Prediction: Shayna Baszler

Edge and Rey Mysterio vs. The Judgement Day

WWE Clash at the Castle Edge & Rey Mysterio vs. Judgement Day title card
Credit: WWE

Griffin: A match between the (relatively) new and the old guard, the Judgement Dy faction face Edge and Mysterio. Edge is planning the end but I reckon he would be more than fond to put over these two whilst Rey is going nowhere fast. Why is it not Rey and Dominik? I feel this will be pretty good but just a basic win for the new team.

Winner: Judgement Day

Jeremy: The Judgement Day seems to be going nowhere with the fans recently after being adored when the faction was first formed. I think WWE kicked Edge out of the group way too quickly and it has been slowly going downhill from there.

Prediction: Edge and Rey Mysterio

Joel: I think Finn is going to be the most over person in this match, minus Rhea Ripley. This is a toss-up but I think Judgement Day finds a way to sneak out a win over the legends.

Prediction: Judgement Day

Katrina: Hmm, being that Rey Mysterio got the win in the last PPV, I am going with The Judgement Day to take this.

Prediction: Judgement Day

Jon: Are we finally going to get the Mysterio split that we’ve all expected for what feels like an eternity? Dom has honestly been pretty boring over his tenure in the E so far. A repackage of the younger Mysterio may be exactly what he needs to kick his career into gear. I think it’s time to finally pull the trigger on Dominick turning back on his old man and setting on his own path. With his help, Edge and Priest will pick up the win and start a new chapter in the Mysterio legacy.

Prediction: Judgement Day

WWE Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre

Griffin: I predict McIntyre for this one, perhaps with my heart over my brain. What could be more Scottish than winning the world title in Wales in front of a largely English audience? Nonetheless, as we enter the third year of Roman’s reign (pun intended), it is largely agreed the reign is stagnating, with moss developing around the corners. Maybe it is British bias, but I would love to see Drew get the biggest rub of the decade by ending the multi-year reign, once again toppling a Paul Heyman guy. More importantly, I also predict (and with fingers crossed in hope) that they bring back Shaman’s Harvest’s “Broken Dreams”.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

Jeremy: I’ve been going back and forth on what I believe will be the outcome of this match. At first, I felt that they have to get one of the belts onto a guy that is going to be on TV every single week. However, the more that I think about it, the more that I believe that this historic championship reign needs to come to an end at a bigger event and by a guy that the fans will be solidly behind. I just don’t know if that will be Drew McIntyre. I think that WWE will realize this and wait for the return of Cody Rhodes to take at least one of the titles away from Roman Reigns.

Prediction: Roman Reigns

Joel: This match has been built up pretty well, and I’m excited to see these two certified main-eventers lock up. McIntyre is going to have the backing of an entire country, but this may motivate the ruthless Reigns. The main reason I could see Drew winning is as a first step in Triple H’s ‘Operation Make Karrion Kross Universal Champion’ plan. I don’t think it’s that likely, but it is a possible scenario to instigate a new creative lead. My gut says that Kross costs Drew the match and the two move onto a feud and Roman continues on as champ.

Prediction: Roman Reigns

Jon: As soon as Clash at the Castle was announced, the assumed headliner was Drew McIntyre challenging for the Undisputed Universal Championship. But with that being the case, it still feels like the build-up has been kind of lacklustre, in my opinion. Luckily, the fans will be white-hot for this showdown anyway, which will certainly enhance the quality of the match. Rumors have run wild lately that this could be the moment when the Tribal Chief is finally dethroned. That certainly would be cause for a massive celebration in Cardiff. I wouldn’t get your hopes up though if you’re a fan of the Scottish Psychopath. The reign of the Head of the Table appears to still be far from over. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a couple of suuuuuper close near falls to keep the Wales crowd on their toes. But alas, Roman Reigns will leave the United Kingdom the same way that he entered it, as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

Prediction: Roman Reigns

Katrina: I love them both, but I love Roman more. While I totally understand needing to split the belts at some point since Roman isn’t there often, I don’t see him losing them overseas. I do think Drew will win, but Roman will retain, maybe due to interference or something.

Prediction: Roman Reigns
