NXT: New Year’s Evil 2022 Predictions

NXT: New Year’s Evil 2022 is upon us – or at least it will be in a few hours – and as is tradition around these here parts, we’ve gathered together our crack staff of writers, pulled the wheat from the chaff, and come up with our NXT: New Year’s Evil 2022 predictions.

Riddle and MSK vs. Imperium

Jon Shartzer: This is tough to call for a couple of reasons. On one hand, it’s hard to see Riddle taking an NXT loss while Raw Tag Team Champion. Especially after doing this long story with MSK about getting the titles back. But on the other hand, I don’t want to see Walter lose on his return either. But somebody is going to have. Imperium will lose but Walter will be nowhere near the finish.
Winners: Riddle and MSK

Jeremy Thomas: I’m most intrigued by Walter being added to this match because he has stated in the past that he has no interest in moving to the United States full time. Will this be Walter’s swan song before getting his call up to Raw or SmackDown? WWE Raw tag team champion Riddle being added to the match will add a few more viewers to the show for sure. To further cement Walter as a legitimate threat I predict that he will pin Riddle.
Winners: Imperium

Joel Kananen: Riddle and WALTER make their NXT returns and I couldn’t be more excited. This is a guaranteed match of the night, as all six participants are top-tier in-ring performers. Who doesn’t want to see WALTER chop Riddle?
Winners: Imperium

Neil Gray: WALTER returning to the ring at NXT: New Year’s Evil 2022 should be a big enough clue as to which way this match is going, and if he’s on the verge of heading to the main roster – as rumor would have us believe – then they’re going to bring him in strong and dominant. Only for Vince to get bored of him after about a week and he’s forced to form a dancing trio with R-Truth and a returning Little Jimmy.
Winners: Imperium

NXT North American Cruiserweight Championship Unification: Roderick Strong vs. Carmelo Hayes

JS: I don’t really like combining these titles, but l guess I get it. However, combining the names to call it the NXT North American Cruiserweight is silly and lazy. But I digress. I definitely see the new unified title leaving with Carmelo Hayes. This will help solidify the transition to NXT 2.0 and establish the champions of the new school.
Winner: Carmelo Hayes

JT: This match will see the winner with 2 titles. Will they create a new title or will they just keep the NXT North American championship? With 205 Live destined to become a WWE Main Event third-tier show, it appears that Carmelo Hayes will be the winner here.
Winner: Carmelo Hayes

JK: Carmelo Hayes is perhaps the breakout and defining star of the newly minted 2.0 era. This match should be a very entertaining contest and further Hayes as a future mega star. RIP to the Cruiserweight Championship.
Winner: Carmelo Hayes

NG: I fully predict that NXT: New Year’s Evil 2022, will be the show that finally puts the last nail in the coffin of the old black and gold house that Triple H built. That means that Hayes will get the win here, allowing Roderick Strong to see out his contract and head over to AEW to join his former Undisputed Era stablemates. This will make me very happy, as it means the last reason to watch NXT has gone and I don’t have to sit through this abortion of a reboot ever again.
Winner: Carmelo Hayes

NXT Women’s Championship Triple Threat: Mandy Rose vs. Raquel Gonzalez vs. Cora Jade

JS: I’m torn here. I don’t feel like Mandy Rose has been noteworthy as Champion. But I also don’t feel like Raquel is getting another title reign so soon and Cora Jade is still pretty green. I guess Mandy will retain and keep her place and keep her place at the top of the women’s division.
Winner: Mandy Rose

JT: I’m going to rule out Raquel Gonzalez from winning because I believe that she will be debuting in the women’s Royal Rumble match at the end of the month. This match should be used to continue the story between Jade and Rose. I believe Rose will use some nefarious measures or interference to pin Jade.
Winner: Mandy Rose

JK: Three different styles of wrestling make this an intriguing matchup. I think Cora Jade is a star in the making and would love to see her take the belt. Raquel seems ready for a main roster call-up so this could be a nice swan song loss for the former champ. Mandy Rose has been solid as the leader of Toxic Attraction and will likely continue to hold the title.
Winner: Mandy Rose

NG: There is no way that Mandy Rose is dropping the title. She’s been sent to NXT to give it some ‘star power’ – and trust me, I use that term closely – and to help elevate Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne into the main event spotlight and while they have all the gold, that’s just what she’s doing. So, unless Gigi bum rushes the ring to turn on Rose, she’s not dropping the title here.
Winner: Mandy Rose

NXT Championship: Tommaso Ciampa vs. Bron Breakker

JS: As much as it pains me to say it, this will be the final nail in the coffin for the black and gold NXT. Tommaso Ciampa is truly the last of the old guard. I don’t know what his future holds after this. Maybe we’ll see him show up in the Royal Rumble. But one thing I do know is that Bron Breakker is the next NXT Championship and the chosen flag bearer for NXT 2.0. This match should kick-start his reign at the top.
Winner: Bron Breakker

JT: I’ll issue a disclaimer to say that Ciampa is my all-time favorite NXT superstar. He has had an unwavering dedication to the brand that I have always respected. If NXT is serious about going in a different direction and pushing a “new guard” then this is the perfect opportunity to do it. The fan in me hopes that I am wrong, however.
Winner: Bron Breakker

JK: In a continuation of the battle of Black and Gold versus 2.0, Bron Breakker and Tommaso Ciampa will clash for the top prize in NXT once again. Last year’s War Games saw Raquel Gonzalez pin then NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai and go on to win the belt. History seems ready to repeat itself as a new era continues to grow.
Winner: Bron Breakker

NG: Vince McMahon loves big, sweaty men. Nuff said.
Winner: Bron Breakker
