AEW Revolution 2022 Predictions

It’s finally here! After months of build-up, new debuts, big departures, a company purchased, and some outstanding promos and villainy from wrestling’s best heel, AEW Revolution 2022 finally arrives this weekend on March 6th. Andrew Grevas, Jon Shartzer, and Joel Kananen are the people in the know here to give you their predictions and insight, so let’s get straight into it!

The Buy-In: Leyla Hirsch vs. Kris Statlander

Andrew Grevas: I’ve been calling for the company to get behind Leyla for a while now but if there are two heel champs in the women’s division, giving Kris a push makes sense.

Prediction: Kris Statlander

Joel Kananen: Two very talented wrestlers get to show what they got. I’m a big Kris fan so I’m going with the Alien.

Prediction: Kris Statlander

The Buy-In: HOOK vs. QT Marshall

AG: HOOK! HOOK! HOOK!

Prediction: HOOK

JK: PPV debut for HOOK. History.

Prediction: HOOK

Tag Team Triple Threat: AEW Tag Team Champions Jurassic Express vs. ReDragon vs. The Young Bucks

AG: Could ReDragon win the straps and Cole, Baker and ReDRagon end the show each holding their gold high? I think so. It’s time for Jungle Boy to get a solo run and there’s money in Cole and ReDRagon feuding with the Bucks and the eventually returning Kenny Omega.

Prediction: ReDragon

JK: The Elite explosion is upon us. ReDragon and Young Bucks will cost one another the belts, leading to even more animosity in AEW’s most powerful group. This match is going to be awesome.

Prediction: Jurrasic Express

Jon Shartzer: This feels like nothing more than a stepping stone in the bigger picture that is The Young Bucks vs reDRagon. Don’t get me wrong, the match is going to be excellent. But I wouldn’t expect a title change here. Jungle Boy and his dinosaur will benefit from the riff between Adam Cole’s homies. Those two teams are far from done with each other after this, but they don’t need titles to make the story any more relevant.

Prediction: Jurrasic Express

Trios Match: Matt Hardy, Andrade El Idolo, and Isaiah Kassidy vs. Sting, Darby Allin, and TNT Champion Sammy Guevara

AG: Glad these guys are getting on the show but this is purely a vehicle to further the divide between Hardy and Andrade, setting up the arrival in the near future of Brother Nero. We knew he would come.

Prediction: Sting, Darby Allin, and Sammy Guevara

JK: Two erratic legends, two pillars, and two rising stars equal a very fun match. Feels like a good night for the good guys.

Prediction: Sting, Darby Allin, and Sammy Guevara

JS: Honestly, I would prefer this match sans Sting and Matt Hardy. But, here we are. There’s plenty of talent involved in this one, so it should be decent, but I’m not the hugest fan of six-man tag matches. It feels pretty obvious who’s going to win, anyway. I’m going with Sting and friends for the win.

Prediction: Sting, Darby Allin, and Sammy Guevara

Face of the Revolution Ladder Match: Keith Lee vs. Wardlow vs. Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Ricky Starks vs. Orange Cassidy vs. Christian Cage OR Ethan Page

AG: Keith Lee is the sentimental favorite here and while he’s not a bad pick here, this needs to be Wardlow’s coming-out party. AEW has invested a lot into his push and this should be his moment.

Prediction: Wardlow

JK: I love the hoss-fight ladder match, especially since Keith Lee is in it. As great as Lee is, methinks that it is time for Mr. Tony Kahn to unleash his master plan into the world: double-champ MJF. He beat CM Punk in Chicago. Twice. Jim Ross has said many times Wardlow is going to be a champion sooner than later. MJF is the perfect slimy heel to eventually take down everyone’s favorite millennial cowboy. And it all begins with Wardlow winning the TNT Championship and being forced to give it to MJF.

Prediction: Wardlow

JS: I’m a sucker for ladder matches, but who isn’t? This one is going to be so damn fun. I would have liked to have a true high flyer, but I’ll settle for watching Wardlow, Keith Lee and Hobbs beat the living hell out of each. Starks and Cassidy are there for the bumps. Hopefully, Christian is there for the nostalgia and to help pace the match with his veteran presence. But it feels like Wardlow’s time to shine. I feel bad for whatever poor soul gets power bombed through a ladder.

Prediction: Wardlow

AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill vs. Tay Conti

AG: My crush on Tay Conti aside, there’s no way Jade is dropping the strap here.

Prediction: Jade Cargill

JK: Sorry Tay, your arms are too short to box with god. Jade remains perfect.

Prediction: Jade Cargill

JS: Not much to say about this one. I like both of these women, but I’m not expecting much from this matchup. Jade Cargill is still picking up steam in her first title reign and is not ready to relinquish her championship yet. The streak continues.

Prediction: Jade Cargill

Chris Jericho vs. Eddie Kingston

AG: Eddie has been consistently booked to lose the big one, to the point where it’s now referenced in his feuds. AEW needs to end that trend, perhaps with an assist from Santana and Ortiz.

Prediction: Eddie Kingston

JK: No one deserves a legitimizing win more than Eddie, and I think he gets it.

Prediction: Eddie Kingston

JS: I’m still a little confused on who is supposed to be the heel here and who’s the babyface. I like that though. The fans have been throwing a lot of support behind Kingston and he certainly deserves it. Eddie has earned this moment and it wouldn’t hurt Chris Jericho one bit to do the honors for him. Give the people what they want.

Prediction: Eddie Kingston

Bryan Danielson vs. Jon Moxley

AG: Mox needs this win. This will be a war, no doubt about it but in the end, Mox needs to dig down deep and pull out the win and then they join forces.

Prediction: Jon Moxley

JK: Just another terrific matchup on this mega-stacked card. This will be the definition of war, and I believe Danielson earns Moxley’s respect the hard way.

Prediction: Bryan Danielson

JS: Who’s ready to watch two of the baddest dudes on the planet beating the living crap out of each other? I know I am! I was originally leaning towards Danielson winning and forming the tandem that he has been dreaming of. But doesn’t it feel wrong for Mox to lose his first big match since his return? Maybe Danielson earns Moxley’s respect and they end up joining forces anyway. But I’m picking Mox to pull off the victory on Sunday.

Prediction: Jon Moxley

Dog Collar Match: MJF vs. CM Punk

AG: This is a tough one. MJF needs the win, but so does Punk. MJF has already beat Punk and is likely heading for a feud with Wardlow next. Punk wins a bloodbath here and becomes Adam Cole’s first challenger.

Prediction: CM Punk

JK: First, a quick remembrance of MJF’s teary-eyed babyface promo during the 2-23-22 episode of Dynamite. What a talent he is. Anyway, ChainMail daddy Punk is going to whup Maxwell’s ass all over Orlando. Blood and even more tears will be shed.

Prediction: CM Punk

JS: Man, has this been good or what? MJF and CM Punk are creating an all-time story right in front of our very eyes. Bravo to both of these men on a job extremely well done. Now we get to watch them settle it in one of my favorite old-school gimmick matches. They are going to go to war and it’s almost guaranteed to get messy. MJF should go over and close this chapter so that we can move on to Max vs Wardlow.

Prediction: MJF

AEW Women’s World Champion Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. vs. Thunder Rosa

AG: I was fully prepared to call for a new champ until Dynamite. Wrestling booking logic 101 says thou who gets to shine on the go-home show loses at the PPV. Then I started to think about Cole and Baker each holding their championship in photos together and we can’t be denied that, right?

Prediction: Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D.

JK: Unfortunately I feel that Britt’s title reign has been lackluster, but injecting some Thunder Rosa is the best way to liven it up. It feels like Britt steals a win here, but Rosa is the next champion at Double or Nothing in a hardcore match. That’s right I’m predicting future PPVs now!

Prediction: Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D.

JS: IF a title is going to change hands on Sunday, and that’s a big if, I think this is the one that does it. Britt Baker has been a phenomenal champion for AEW and has had a well-deserved impressive run with the title. But Thunder Rosa has always been the thorn in the Doctor’s side. Rosa has proven that she is ready to take the next step and sit on the throne as AEW’s women’s champion.

Prediction: Thunder Rosa

AEW World Heavyweight Champion Hangman Adam Page vs. Adam Cole

AG: Hangman’s run has been short and sweet and this Sunday, it’s time for a new champ to be crowned. Page will shine chasing his former title and Adam Cole is a heel you can build your company around. Sunday is the time for a change.

Prediction: Adam Cole

JK: I am so pumped for this match. The Adams are going to put on one hell of a show, and prove their place among this generation’s greats. I’m also calling a Kenny Omega return here to cause more chaos in the impending Bullet Club/Elite mega-battle.

Prediction: Adam Page

JS: What a match this is going to be. My initial thought was that Cole was going to win here and become the new AEW champion. While I think Cole will be the next champion, I now believe that we’re going to have to wait a few more months until the next PPV. This story still has more chapters to it.

Prediction: Adam Page
