I really didn’t want to have to do this. Seriously, there was nothing else I wanted to participate in less than having to sit through nearly five hours’ worth of the Elimination Chamber on a Monday morning, but being the all-round good guy and trooper I am, that’s what I did.
And, shock horror, it was worth it.
For the most part.
But how did The Wrestling Cabal fair? Did we nail down out choices or fall from the top rope?
Well, there’s only one way to find out.
Let’s lace up our boots and head to the ring for the Elimination Chamber Predictions Showdown Results And Review.
Daniel Bryan vs. Drew Gulak
10 Count Rating: 7
Okay, hands up who saw that coming?
LIAR!!
No, you didn’t.
I expected this to be a squash match if truth be told, but I didn’t expect Gulak to be the one doing the squishing, even if my prediction said otherwise (gotta claw them points back somehow).
In fact, the only reason that this didn’t get an 8 out of 10 was because of that ending. With Gulak firmly in control through-out, the sudden Bryan victory, thanks to the Yes Lock outta no-where, just took the shine off of it for me.
Regardless, I was worried that D-Bry would have nothing to do this WrestleMania season, but he could be a lot worse off than having to go to the Show of Shows with Drew Gulak as a dance partner.
Winner: Daniel Bryan
Our Predictions:
The Flack: Daniel Bryan
Andrew Grevas: Daniel Bryan
Neil Gray: Drew Gulak
Conor O’Donnell: None Picked
Score So Far:
Flack And Grevas: One Point
Gray And O’Donnell: Zero Points
United States Championship: Andrade vs. Humberto Carrillo
10 Count Rating: 6
So I guess we’re all done with Humberto Carrillo’s push then?
Ever since Andrade got sent home for being a naughty boy, it seems as if WWE decided that they needed to punish Humberto as well.
Which is bull-honky of the highest order.
Thanks for playing though, guess we’ll all get behind Angel Garza instead.
Winner And Still United States Champion: Andrade
Our Predictions:
The Flack: Andrade
Andrew Grevas: Andrade
Neil Gray: Andrade
Conor O’Donnell: Andrade
Score So Far:
Flack And Grevas: Two Points
Gray And O’Donnell: One Point
Elimination Chamber Match: The Miz and John Morrison vs. The New Day vs. The Usos vs. Heavy Machinery vs. Lucha House Party vs. Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode
10 Count Rating: 7
This was weird.
On the one hand, you had some of the most “Oh My God!” moments to be seen inside a WWE ring for a very long time, and on the other hand, you had a fair few botches.
For every Tucker coming off the pod into a group of bodies, there was a John Morrison nearly slipping on his arse due to his ring gear being faulty.
Overall though, this was a pretty damn good match and with The Miz and John Morrison picking up the win, the WWE got the booking right.
Winners And Still SmackDown Tag-Team Champions: The Miz And John Morrison
Our Predictions:
The Flack: The Miz And John Morrison
Andrew Grevas: The Miz And John Morrison
Neil Gray: The Miz And John Morrison
Conor O’Donnell: The Miz And John Morrison
Score So Far:
Flack And Grevas: Three Points
Gray And O’Donnell: Two Points
No DQ Match: Aleister Black vs. AJ Styles
10 Count Rating: 8
Yes, this played out exactly how we predicted it would.
Yes, Taker showed up and helped Black get the win.
But no, I don’t care as this was easily my Fight of the Night.
Both AJ and Black went to town on each other, with brutal shots, amazing spots, and weapons galore and it was so refreshing to see decent story-telling in a WWE ring. Styles specifically targeted Aleister’s legs so as to take away his option to use the Black Mass and blow me down if Black didn’t sell the hell out of it.
Eventually, after a wicked looking table spot, The OC would bum-rush the ring only for the lights to go out and for The Dead-Man to show up to lay a beating on everyone not named Aleister, allowing him to pick up the win, but I’ll be damned if this wasn’t awesome wrestling from everyone involved.
Winner: Aleister Black
Our Predictions:
The Flack: Aleister Black
Andrew Grevas: Aleister Black
Neil Gray: Aleister Black
Conor O’Donnell: AJ Styles
Score So Far:
Flack And Grevas: Four Points
Gray: Three Points
O’Donnell: Two Points
RAW Tag-Team Championship: The Street Profits vs. Seth Rollins and Murphy
10 Count Rating: 7
An all-round decent outing, with the right result (from my point of view at least) and some interesting questions to be answered going forward.
With KO constantly being a thorn in Seth’s side does that mean we’re going to get a mano-a-mano between the two at WrestleMania?
And if that is the case, does that mean the AOP will be up against The Street Profits?
I’m suddenly more interested in the outcome of this match than I was going into it.
Winners And Still RAW Tag-Team Champions: The Street Profits
Our Predictions:
The Flack: Seth Rollins And Murphy
Andrew Grevas: Seth Rollins And Murphy
Neil Gray: The Street Profits
Conor O’Donnell: Seth Rollins And Murphy
Score So Far:
Flack, Gray, And Grevas: Four Points
O’Donnell: Two Points
Intercontinental Championship 3 On 1 Handicap Match: Braun Strowman vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, Cesaro, and Sami Zayn;
10 Count Rating: 5
I’ll admit that it might seem contradictory to score this match so low, considering how we were all complaining about how we thought it would pan out, but the fact remains that the Intercontinental Championship deserves more respect than being tossed around like a salad.
If I don’t care that Sami Zayn, whom I love, has just walked out of a PPV with a title, then you’ve killed that belt dead with years of bad choices.
Swerving people for the sake of swerving people is not how you should run your shows, bro.
Winner And New Intercontinental Champion: Sami Zayn
Our Predictions:
The Flack: Braun Strowman
Andrew Grevas: Braun Strowman
Neil Gray: Braun Strowman
Conor O’Donnell: Braun Strowman
Score So Far:
Flack, Gray, And Grevas: Four Points
O’Donnell: Two Points
Women’s Elimination Chamber: Shayna Baszler vs. Asuka vs. Natalya vs. Ruby Riott vs. Liv Morgan vs. Sarah Logan
10 Count Rating:1
Whoever booked this match should be fired, out of a cannon, into the sun.
It.was.awful.
But as this hand the ultimate stench of Vince McMahon Bull-Honky oozing out of every pore, then that’s never going to happen.
On what planet does it make sense to have Baszler enter the match as number four, have her steam roller over the three other competitors and just stand around in the ring for five minutes, waiting for her next victim.
Then, they did exactly the same f*cking thing again!!!!
This would’ve been better if we’d just had Baszler vs. Asuka, the battle of NXT, with the winner going on to face Becky at Wrestlemania, instead what we got was the company burying its entire SmackDown division in one fail swoop.
“Hey pal, that match Shayna had with Sane on RAW didn’t go over well, so how about we just book her as a female Brrrrrrrrrrrock Lesnar. The fans love Lesnar, right?”
Winner And I Couldn’t Care Less Thanks To The Worst Booking Since Goldberg Defeated The Fiend: Shayna Baszler.
Our Predictions:
The Flack: Shayna Baszler
Andrew Grevas: Shayna Baszler
Neil Gray: Shayna Baszler
Conor O’Donnell: Shayna Baszler
Score So Far:
Flack, Gray, And Grevas: Five Points
O’Donnell: Three Points
10 Count Overall Rating: 5
Well, yes, that may seem harsh, but if the last two matches on the show hadn’t been both “Meh” and f*cking awful respectively, then the Elimination Chamber would’ve been seen as a success.
But the WWE just can’t help themselves.
There is no chance that the Lynch/Baszler feud can now become as legendary as The Rock/Stone Cold or Undertaker/Mankind of yesteryear thanks to them painting themselves into a corner where female Brrrrrrrrrrrrock Lesnar now must run over everyone that crosses her path, including The Man.
This Wrestlemania is going to be a painful and, quite possibly, a very short one for Becky Lynch.
And people ask me why I’ve given up on the company.
As for The Wrestling Cabal, the results are in and it’s a three-way tie.
A triple count-out, which is such terrible booking that I feel it’s quite an apt send-off for this year’s Elimination Chamber.
With only NXT: TakeOver Tampa before Wrestlemania, the table looks like this;
Andrew Grevas: 21 Points
Christopher Flackett: 19 Points
Conor O’Donnell: 17 Points
Neil Gray: 17 Points
With only four points in it it’s still all up for grabs, but who will emerge victorious in our inaugural season?
Join us over Wrestlemania weekend to find out.
