Ronda Rousey Reveals Vince McMahon’s Advice After RAW

Ronda Rousey recently revealed Vince McMahon’s advice to her after her appearance on RAW the night after the Royal Rumble. Having left the WWE not exactly on the best terms with the fans, Ronda Rousey admitted on her YouTube program, ‘Ronda On The Road’, that she’d returned to the WWE wary of how the fans would react to her.

Having been surprised by the positivity that she received on her return, Ronda Rousey showed up on the following night’s RAW not expecting the same kind of response and after the show, she was greeted first by Paul Heyman and then by Vince McMahon and both had some very sage advice for her.

According to Rousey;

I got through it and I came out and Heyman was like, ‘You did great, but I’m going to tell you, he’s going to tell you one thing, he’s going to tell you to smile.’ I’m like, okay. So I went and talked to Vince,” she recalled. “He was like, ‘That was fantastic. Just — you need to smile.’ I was telling him like, ‘You know, they were booing me on the way out of every stadium.

He’s like, ‘Yeah, but they’ve forgiven you for that.’ I’m like, ‘Well, I haven’t forgiven them.’ And he goes, ‘But it’s not about you. It’s about them.’ It was like such a good point that I’d been thinking about myself and how this relates to myself, and I was forgetting that this is a show about entertaining them.”

Even though it seems that Ronda Rousey still has a chip on her shoulder due to the way that the fans turned on her, it appears that the intervention of both Paul Heyman and Vince McMahon has at least made her see that she should go out there to entertain the fans as best as she can.

I give Vince McMahon a lot of crap for the way the WWE is run at times, but I’m also happy to see that he still understands that without the bums in seats – whether live or at home – that the company would struggle. It may be that Ronda Rousey has a legitimate beef with how things ended during her first run, but to Vince McMahon that doesn’t matter. All that matters is putting smiles on his customer’s faces.
