MLW Fusion to Return to UK and Irish Screens

Since MLW CEO Court Bauer’s announcement that the pro-wrestling league would be relaunching their flagship show, Fusion, sometime this fall, many of the league’s fans in the UK and Ireland were anxious to know whether they’d be able to access the show.

Previously, these fans (myself included) were able to watch the show easily and for free as it was uploaded onto YouTube each week. It would also air on the FreeSports TV channel, but the most popular method of catching the show was via YouTube.

While it has not been officially confirmed, it has been speculated that new episodes of Fusion will no longer appear on YouTube once the relaunch occurs. The reason appears to be that it is no longer financially lucrative, or at least enough, for MLW to continue making Fusion available in this manner. It must be remembered that the lay-off since April will have no doubt impacted the company’s finances to some extent, so it’s understandable MLW will need any deals moving forward to suit them as much as possible financially.

Us Uk and Irish fans were worried we would be losing one of our favourite shows, but you can always count on Court. MLW have announced that, once Fusion returns to the air, it will air in the UK and Ireland as part of an multi-platform agreement with Sports Channel Network. Not only will this mean that Fusion will air on the Sports Channel Network TV channel, but it will also be available to view on VOD365, the Sports Channel Network’s online streaming platform.

The press release from MLW states that “VOD365 is available on all iOS and Android devices, without the need for set top boxes, bundled packages or contracts. Fans can also watch on traditional TV screens by casting on Google Chromecast.” This means that MLW has the potential to reach a wide audience in the UK and Ireland, as there will be a versatile variety of ways to watch their content.

The UK and Ireland are clearly important markets for MLW. Court Bauer has commented:

The UK and Ireland are amongst MLW’s strongest markets globally and with Sports Channel Network making a significant move as a multi-platform player, it made perfect sense to partner with them to showcase our thrilling product to our loyal and passionate fans. And it’s all free to millions of homes.

Sports Obsessive will keep you updated regarding the relaunch of MLW Fusion as and when we receive further information.
