Kyle O’Reilly Has Joined AEW

Kyle O’Reilly has joined AEW. In a move that should come as no surprise to anyone with even a passing interest in pro wrestling, Kyle O’Reilly showed up on last night’s AEW Dynamite Holiday Bash, while his friend Adam Cole faced off against Orange Cassidy in a brilliant match that could’ve gone either way. In fact, it appeared that it was going in Cassidy’s direction, right up until Bobby Fish ran out, causing a distraction. While everyone was focused on Fish, Kyle O’Reilly came through the crowd and attacked The Freshly Squeezed One – allowing Cole to pick up the victory – and the crowd lost its collective mind.

Taking to Twitter, Kyle O’Reilly wrote afterward;

Life is crazy and I’m very grateful that my professional wrestling abilities have taken me to a new frontier in which to explore my ass-kicking ways. Proud to be apart of @AEW and thanks to @TonyKhan for the opportunity…If you’re a fan of mine from elsewhere I hope you continue to support me. If you’re new to KOR prepare to see a man that pours his f’n soul into that ring every night and has an unquenchable thirst for cans of whoop ass…Also, reDRagon is back!!!”

It has been long rumored that Kyle O’Reilly would join up with his former Undisputed Era stablemates in AEW, and now that he has it seems that the sky’s the limit for KOR. The fact that he has stated that reDRagon is back seems to me to mean that both Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish will tag together again, which is a great way to get him into the swing of things. The AEW tag team division is pretty strong as it is, but – if I’m to be honest – outside of FTR, the Lucha Bros, and The Young Bucks it doesn’t really have any standout duos that can keep the momentum going. Don’t get me wrong, I like Jurrasic Express, but can you honestly see them with the AEW Tag team Titles around their waists?

But now that reDRagon has reformed and with rumours of The Briscoe Brothers at least making a few appearances for AEW if not signing full time, the AEW Tag Team Division suddenly has more options than just repeating FTR vs. the Lucha Bros. for the 900th time. Though even if they did, it’d be another five-star match as both FTR and the Lucha Bros. are on another level at the moment.

And let’s face it, when Kenny Omega is fit again and returns to The Elite, the Cole, O’Reilly, Fish faction turning on Omega and The Bucks writes itself, doesn’t it?
