Kazuchika Okada Wants Danielson And Punk

Kazuchika Okada has sent shock waves through the wrestling industry and sent a million fans into sensory overload by telling Sports Illustrated that he wants to face both Bryan Danielson and CM Punk before they retire. Talking to Justin Barrasso – who I’m starting to really hate as he gets to talk to all my favorite wrestlers (just kidding JB, you da man, as the kids say) – to hype his main event match for his IWGP World Heavyweight Title Match against Shingo Takagi –  which is about 30 minutes away from happening while I write this – Kazuchika Okada had the following to say;

Danielson and Punk would make for some incredible matches. A lot of those dream match scenarios are about getting excited for the possibilities, and once the match is done, it’s done. So it is important to keep that excitement and anticipation, I think. Still, if we wait too long, they’ll both retire eventually, so I want to face them both while they’re still active.”

This is a shot that should be heard around the wrestling world. Kazuchika Okada has flat out said that he wants to face both these men, and thanks to this Forbidden Door everyone keeps banging on about now being kicked wide open, there’s no reason that it can’t and won’t happen.

There is a working relationship between NJPW and AEW, and the thought of Kazuchika Okada showing up on an episode of AEW Dynamite or one of its Super Cards – may I suggest Battle of the Belts? – to issue a challenge to either Bryan Danielson or CM Punk is so mouth-watering that I very well may drown in my own saliva.

Kazuchika Okada is one of the greatest wrestlers to lace up a set of boots, and if the thought of him vs. Bryan Danielson and/or CM Punk at any point doesn’t fire you up like a raging inferno, then perhaps pro wrestling isn’t the sport for you.
