Jon Moxley Set For The Wrld On GCW

Jon Moxley is set for The Wrld On GCW, in what could be his comeback match since his hiatus to deal with personal issues. On what is already a stacked bill, the addition of Jon Moxley vs. Homicide for the GCW World Championship has pushed it into Super Card territory. GCW announced it via Twitter, stating;

Just Signed for #TheWrldOnGCW: *GCW World Title Match* MOX vs 187 Plus: Janela vs Cardona, Allie vs Ruby, Gresham vs Blake, Team Bandido vs Team Gringo. Sun, Jan 23rd – 8PM LIVE from The Hammerstein Ballroom!”

Jon Moxley hasn’t been seen in the wrestling world since late October when he chose to get help for his alcohol problem, but – thankfully – he now seems to be in a better place and one that will allow him to return to the ring. As there is no news on when he is expected to return to AEW, his GCW match currently stands to be his triumphant return and from a business standpoint, should push The Wrld On GCW’s buy rate through the roof.

I have noticed that fans online are questioning whether or not Jon Moxley’s GCW appearance will be off the back of him showing up on next week’s AEW Dynamite, but I don’t think he will. The reason for this is that there’s not a great deal for him to do within the company at the moment. All the biggest names in AEW are currently involved in feuds – MJF vs. Punk, Hangman vs. Lance Archer, and so on – so bringing him back now, just to receive a pop without any form of a storyline for him to step into would be a waste. Personally, when Jon Moxley does return to AEW, I want it to be a must-see moment that leads to the biggest angle of 2022.

Either way – if he does show up on AEW Dynamite next Wednesday or waits until The Wrld On GCW to make his full comeback – the roof is guaranteed to come off the place when Jon Moxley steps through the curtain once again.
