Gresham & Grace To Appear In The UK In October

The Pure Wrestling Power Couple to Appear for Wrestle Carnival

Wrestle Carnival, the UK promotion ran by former WrestleGate promoter Gary Ward, has been making waves in the British wrestling scene with its debut show, Curtain Call, and by putting its relationship with Ring of Honor on display by promoting their Carnival of Honor show for September 12th featuring some of ROH’s great UK-based talent. Now the group has taken things one step further by bringing over two performers from the States beloved by the die-hard wrestling fandom: the ROH Pure Champion ‘The Foundation’ Jonathan Gresham, and his wife, the extremely popular former Impact Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace.

The announcement drove my timeline on Twitter, and many other people’s I’m sure, into an ecstatic frenzy, such was the excitement the British audience feels for the possibility of actually seeing Gresham and Grace again on British soil. It’s a prospect that’s even sweeter after the lockdowns of the COVID pandemic, which impacted the ability of both promotions and wrestlers to perform, and audiences being to see their favourite talent in the ring, including appearances from overseas talent who of course were unable to travel freely.

Both Grace and Gresham are extremely highly regarded by fans, with Gresham, in particular, being celebrated for his revival of the Pure Wrestling division in ROH and the stellar run of matches he has contested as that division’s champion. I still get a cold sweat thinking about the viciousness with which Gresham smashed Wheeler Yuta’s knee in the canvas repeatedly to earn a submission during their Pure Title Tournament match. Grace, meanwhile, has been one of the shining lights of Impact’s Knockouts division over the last two years, her physical, bruising style particularly burning brightly in the matches she contested with current Knockouts Champion, ‘The Virtuosa’ Deonna Purrazzo.

Jonathan Gresham’s opponent at the event, which is called Pure, is Chris Ridgeway, an encounter British fans are already labelling a dream match. Jordynne Grace, meanwhile, will have her hands full with the hard-as-nails Alex Windsor in what is sure to be a vicious, violent affair.

Not only that, but Jonathan Gresham will be holding a Pure Wrestling seminar on October 9th for wrestlers of all experience levels, and there is the opportunity to meet both Gresham and Jordynne on the day of Pure as well as getting a 8×10 signed by both and a photo opportunity with the Pure Wrestling power couple!

Really, what else would you rather be doing in a cold and gloomy October in England? I can’t wait.

Wrestle Carnival’s Pure will take place on October 9th at the Portland Centre in Nottingham. More information and tickets can be found on Wrestle Carnival’s website here.
