Eddie Kingston’s Mt. Rushmore Is All Japan

Eddie Kingston’s Mt. Rushmore is All Japan. For the past year or so, everyone and their grandma – including Stone Cold, The Rock, and The Undertaker – have been asked who they’d put on their Mt. Rushmore of pro wrestling and some have been interesting, while others have been pretty obvious, and now it seems that the ‘Mad King’ Eddie Kingston has given his view on who should be on that Mountain and as you can imagine, Eddie Kingston’s Mt. Rushmore is a lot more entertaining than most.

Talking to NY News 12 Long Island, he said;

I’m just going to go with my personal favorites. Not the people who drew the most money, not the people who made the most impact in the business, just my personal favorites. Honestly, it’s the Four Pillars of All Japan-Pro Wrestling. Kawada, Taue, Misawa, and Kobashi. There you go, there’s my Mt. Rushmore right there. All Japan 90’s and some of them when they went to Pro Wrestling NOAH. There’s your Mt. Rushmore for me personally, because they’re the guys I still watch to this day. I just watched Misawa and Taue from ’96 or ’95 the other day on the phone. No one wrestles like them. No one will ever wrestle like them. I love them to death. Kobashi is my personal favorite. Kawada, I feel like I’m a kindred spirit with Kawada. But no one wrestles like them, no one will ever be them. That’s the benchmark. I’m trying to be better than them, not to be like them because nobody could ever be like Kobashi, Kawada, Misawa, Taue ever again.”

These choices should come as no surprise to anyone who knows even the slightest details about Eddie Kingston’s love for All Japan. From all accounts, Eddie Kingston’s the guy to go to if you want to know anything about the company, as his knowledge is encyclopedic on the subject. It’s also a great shout, as far as I’m concerned, because All Japan’s success was built off of the back of those four men.

As for me, well, I have my own opinion on who should be on the Mt. Rushmore of pro wrestling, but I’m not going to share them here. Maybe when I have time on a slow news day, I’ll jot them down for you to all laugh at. Or maybe not.

Now…how many E’s are in Eugene?
