Are The Briscoe Brothers AEW bound? If last night’s ROH Final Battle is anything to go by, then it’s a very good possibility. A couple of days ago I reported on how FTR had given an interview to The Wrestling Classic YouTube channel, in which they listed off all the great tag teams they had faced – such as The Lucha Bros, The Young Bucks, DIY, etc, etc – and Dax Harwood said that The Brisco Brothers were the only team they needed to face to help cement their legacy as the greatest tag team of all time.
This made your friendly neighborhood wrestling writer extremely happy as FTR and The Brisco Brothers are in my top three tag teams in the world right now, and I predicted that at some point in 2022, we’d get to see them face off. Well, it looks like I was right. For once. Which makes a nice change.
At last night’s ROH Final Battle, The Briscoe Brothers took on The OGK for the ROH Tag Team Titles in a fight that I urge you to go and watch if you haven’t yet. Honestly, if this had happened in time for the Sports Obsessive Wrestling Awards 2021, then it would’ve gotten my vote for Match of the Year, it was that damn good.
Eventually, The Briscoe Brothers would emerge victorious and be crowned 12 times ROH World Tag Team Champions, and while Jay was saying his goodbye to the ROH faithful – with a promise that we hadn’t seen the last of The Briscoe Brothers – the lights went out. When they came back on, FTR was there and a massive brawl broke out.
So, are The Briscoe Brothers AEW bound? The obvious answer to this is yes. AEW is really the only viable option for The Briscoe Brothers to nail down full-time contracts. Having already passed on the WWE a few years ago – and with tag team wrestling being viewed over there like a child that should be kept locked in a basement – AEW would offer The Briscoe Brothers a chance to not only face FTR, but The Lucha Bros, The Young Bucks, the list is endless. It would also allow The Briscoe Brothers the chance to work outside of the company as well and as they are the current GCW Champions, they would be allowed to defend these titles as well as take other Independent dates.
But this is all guesswork on my part, and The Briscoe Brothers are nothing if not unpredictable. So whatever Jay and Mark choose to do next, you know that it will be explosive. This attack by FTR will not go unpunished and with Winter Is Coming only three days away, I’ve got everything crossed for a return ass-whupping, delivered by Dem Boys.
