You either like Matt Riddle‘s “Bro” schtick or you think it’s about as funny as having your private parts electrocuted by Kane. If you’re in the former group then this is good news for you (and you really need to get out of the 1990s), but those in the latter are going to hate it, as it seems that Vince McMahon is a fan of Riddle.
According to ‘Uncle’ Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio;
So, Vince doesn’t understand Matt Riddle’s gimmick. The bro’s thing or anything, right? But if you watch the last couple of weeks of TV you will understand this. Vince thinks that Matt Riddle is very funny in his own weird way. So, Vince likes the guy. I don’t know that they want to push him to a main event, but he likes the guy on TV doing this stuff because Vince probably never saw Fast Times at Ridgemont High and doesn’t realise that he’s doing a 40-year-old character – You know, Jeff Spicoli from that movie – and probably thinks that this is like really unique and funny and everything like that. And so he wants this character. He likes Matt Riddle.”
This might explain why Riddle has been allowed to call out the likes of Goldberg and Lesnar whenever he feels like without fear of recrimination. After all, ‘Big’ Vinnie still runs the show, and what he say’s is the law and if you want to keep drawing a fat paycheck as those two do, you’re just going to have to deal with it.
