WWE Superstar Shelton Benjamin is calling on the wrestling universe to go support indie wrestling right now. He went to Twitter to say that cancellations on indie circuit due to the Covid-19 global pandemic is destroying it. Benjamin stated that now indie wrestlers do not have revenue coming in from wrestling.
Braun Strowman’s Insensitivity
In a Forbes article, Braun Strowman shot off his mouth recently. He spoke about independent struggling pro wrestlers “wanting somebody to take care” of them. Then he just had to continue. Braun said, “And for anyone that goes ‘that’s easy for you to say you’re a WWE Superstar.’ Just an FYI, 7 years ago I moved to Florida with everything I owned in a Kia Soul. With $150 to my name when I started this!!!”
Shelton Benjamin’s Support
Shelton Benjamin tweeted out: “Amazing talents NOT on a WWE roster are going to have a tough struggle with $0 coming in due Coronavirus Pandemic. So if you have the means, support your favorite independent wrestler. Buy their merch and support their platforms. #SUPPORTINDYWRESTLING We are all in this together.”
Indie wrestlers around the world have lost bookings because of restrictions placed on gatherings.

Most Started In The Indies
This is a very nice gesture from Benjamin. One that shouldn’t come as a surprise. He spent seven years on the independent scene himself. Remember Shelton Benjamin left WWE in 2010. Then he went to the indie circuit before resigning with WWE in 2017.
He has also garnered praise from independent wrestlers and companies. This proves that not every performer in the WWE shares the feelings of The Monster Among Men.
What do you think about this situation? Do you think this will cause very many promotions to go out of business? Do you think many independent wrestlers will be able to survive?
