Shaq Debuts On AEW And It’s Not Terrible

After it was announced last week that Shaquille O’Neal would be appearing on the new episode of AEW Dynamite, we waited and wondered just how much of a car crash it would be. Would the former LA Lakers legend be able to put on a decent performance or would Shaq fall flat on his face? Well, to everyone’s surprise, your friendly neighborhood wrestling writer included, he did a pretty decent job.

Shaq Giving His Explanation

Sitting down with both Tony Schiavone and Brandi Rhodes, Shaq Diesel talked about how he and Jade Cargill went back a long way. He was watching her interaction with Cody, but he wasn’t happy with what she did to Brandi’s arm during a backstage attack.

This led to Brandi saying she didn’t appreciate it either. However, Jade came after her family and she won’t back down from that. She also claimed that she was hoping they could put a stop to this before it escalated further.

Brandi and Shaq

Shaq agreed. He said that even though he might have had a pop at Cody on Twitter that it was just in fun. He assured that he had nothing but love for the whole Rhodes clan. He did though agree with “Big” Tony that Jade and Brandi should sort out their problems in the ring. Shaq said that he would be there.

Everyone shook hands with everything seemingly settled. Just as Brandi was leaving Shaq told her she should watch Cargill. Maybe Brandi could pick up some pointers from her.

Brandi predictably lost her s*it at this. She balled Shaq out while called him an overgrown a**hole. Then Brandi threw a cup of water in his face to end the segment.

Gray’s Dissection Of This Segment

This is obviously a set up for a mixed tag match down the line between Cargill/Shaq Fu and The Rhodes. Even though I don’t expect it to be a five-star affair, I’m suddenly more invested in it than I was seven days ago.

What do you think about all this? What do you think of Shaq backing Jade? Should Brandi have thrown The water? Let us know in the comments below.
