Is Kyle O’Reilly About To Leave The WWE

Is Kyle O’Reilly about to leave the WWE and join Adam Cole (Bay Bay!) and Bobby Fish in AEW? It’s a question that has been doing the rounds of late. Not just at SPOBS Towers either, as the IWC has been chipping in with its two cents on the subject as well. But is he? Is Kyle O’Reilly about to leave the WWE for pastures new?

This all started when it was reported by Mike Johnson over on PWInsider that O’Reilly’s contract was up in December, with a tentative date of the 3rd being penciled in. This – of course – instantly led to speculation that he would be looking to either A) Get a much better deal for himself before resigning or B) Cut ties all together with the WWE and after sitting out his non-compete cause, head over to AEW to join up with his old NXT running buddies, Adam Cole (Bay Bay!) and Bobby Fish. It’s been two months since the initial report came to light, and we’ve heard nothing so far on whether or not Kyle O’Reilly will be signing stying with the company, but if I had to hazard a guess, I’d say not.

First off, if you’ve been watching him on NXT since this all came to light, you’ll have noticed how they’re kind of burying him at the moment. In his last outing, he was basically cannon-fodder for Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs – two wrestlers who weren’t even afforded their own entrances on the show – and had to be saved by his tag partner Von Wagner, who scored the win. Now, I’ll admit, it’s not a total Golden Shovel job, but there are signs there.

There’s also the fact that since the original report, he’s only been used three times on television – not including the dark match he had on Smackdown against Johnny Gargano, which he lost – and hasn’t been seen at all for two weeks now. Obviously, I don’t know what is happening behind the scenes between Kyle O’Reilly and the WWE higher-ups, but if history has taught us anything, then it’s that the company wants to wound a wrestlers worth before they release them back into the wild, and a mini-burial is a good way to go about achieving that goal.

Then yesterday, Adam Cole (Bay Bay!) tweeted out this;

Again, this isn’t confirmation in any way, shape, or form that Kyle O’Reilly has signed for AEW, and it could just be a case of one wrestler acknowledging the friendship and rivalry that they’ve shared with another, but it certainly stirs the pot, and Cole knows it.

If the Dec. 3rd date is true, and Kyle O’Reilly becomes a free agent on that day, then Adam Cole (Bay Bay!) dropping this tweet less than a week before it happens can only signify that his friend is indeed about to join AEW, after he’s sat out his non-compete clause.

This is all speculation on my part, but I feel that all signs point to yes and that we will soon see Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish, and Adam Cole (Bay Bay!) all working for the same company again. And the only logical thing for creative to do when this happens is to have them reform their old Undisputed Era faction – though under a different name due to copyright laws – and to feud with The Elite.

This will make Andrew Grevas happy, as he’s been predicting this for weeks now…

  1. Kyle is undoubtedly a great performer but he is currently still fixated on a mid-card rank in NXT although he could be much higher.
