NFL Week 2 Point Spread Picks

Welcome to my NFL Week 2 point spread picks. The inaugural week of the 2022 NFL season is in the books, and it was one of the worst weeks that I have ever had for picking against the spread. Unfortunately, I went 5-11 last week. My career record over the last eight-plus seasons is 1158-1014. You can always view all of my picks here. I like a lot of the home teams to cover the point spread this week, as I have only picked five of the visiting teams to cover. Hopefully, I will be able to have a better record this week. Let’s check out my NFL point spread picks for week 2!

Thursday, September 15th

Los Angeles Chargers (1-0) @ Kansas City Chiefs (1-0) Line: Chiefs by 3 1/2

This could be the game of the week. Patrick Mahomes looked amazing last week for the Chiefs, as he threw five touchdown passes. Justin Herbert passed for three touchdowns to lead the Chargers over the Raiders 24-19. This week, I believe the Chiefs will pull out a narrow victory but fail to cover the point spread. NFL Week 2 Pick: Chargers

Sunday, September 18th

Miami Dolphins (1-0) @ Baltimore Ravens (1-0) Line: Ravens by 3 1/2

The Dolphins and the Ravens both won by double-digits last week. The Dolphins’ defense looked superb against the Patriots, but I believe that they will have a much harder time on the road trying to contain Lamar Jackson. NFL Week 2 Pick: Ravens

Washington Commanders (1-0) @ Detroit Lions (0-1) Line: Lions by 1 1/2

The Commanders looked better last week than I had envisioned for them this season. It appears that Carson Wentz may make Washington look smart for acquiring him from the Colts in the off-season. The Lions’ offense appears to be improved from the last few seasons. The Detroit defense is still a work in progress, however. I like the Commanders in a shootout. NFL Week 2 Pick: Commanders

Indianapolis Colts (0-0-1) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1) Line: Colts by 4 1/2

The Colts were not supposed to go into Houston last week and come away with a tie. The Jaguars looked better in the second half of their game against Washington. The Colts haven’t won in Jacksonville since 2014. I don’t believe that will change this week. NFL Week 2 Pick: Jaguars

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0) @ New Orleans Saints (1-0) Line: Buccaneers by 2 1/2

The Buccaneers and the ageless Tom Brady looked great against the Cowboys last week. The Saints‘ defense always seems to do very well at pressuring Brady. This may be a challenge for Tampa Bay since their offensive line is banged up coming into this contest. NFL Week 2 Pick: Saints

Carolina Panthers (0-1) @ New York Giants (1-0) Line: Giants by 1 1/2

Saquon Barkley appears to be fully recovered from the injuries that have plagued him for the previous two seasons. The Giants will lean on him to get past a Panthers team that couldn’t get anything going against the Browns in week 1. NFL Week 2 Pick: Giants

New England Patriots (0-1) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0) Line: Patriots by 1 1/2

The Steelers managed to hold off the Bengals in overtime for the most exciting contest in the season’s first week. The bad news is that their defense lost TJ Watt in the process. This should be an extremely close game that I believe Pittsburgh will find a way to eke out a victory. NFL Week 2 Pick: Steelers

Atlanta Falcons (0-1) @ Los Angeles Rams (0-1) Line: Rams by 10 1/2

Last week the Falcons managed to do what the Falcons seem to always manage to do: they blew a late lead. Rams head coach Sean McVay will have 10 days to right the ship in Los Angeles and he is too good of a coach with too talented of a team to not come through. NFL Week 2 Pick: Rams

Seattle Seahawks (1-0) @ San Francisco 49ers (0-1) Line: 49ers by 9 1/2

The Seahawks impressed me with their victory over the Broncos on Monday night, as I thought they would be one of the worst teams in the NFL this season. The 49ers played a mud fest against the Bears in Chicago and it’s a little difficult to judge Trey Lance from that first game. I’m taking San Francisco to win this contest but they will fail to cover the large point spread. NFL Week 2 Pick: Seahawks

Cincinnati Bengals (0-1) @ Dallas Cowboys (0-1) Line: Bengals by 7 1/2

Dallas will be without quarterback Dak Prescott this week after he underwent hand surgery from an injury suffered against Tampa Bay. After losing heartbreakingly to the Steelers, the Bengals will recover against a Dak-less Cowboys team. NFL Week 2 Pick: Bengals

Houston Texans (0-0-1) @ Denver Broncos (0-1) Line: Broncos by 9 1/2

The Texans surprised everyone with their tie against the Colts last week. Russell Wilson and the Broncos will look to rebound after suffering a loss to the Seahawks. The Broncos will put one in the win column at home this week but won’t be able to cover the big point spread. NFL Week 2 Pick: Texans

Arizona Cardinals (0-1) @ Las Vegas Raiders (0-1) Line: Raiders by 5 1/2

The Cardinals looked surprisingly inept on both sides of the ball in their loss to the Chiefs. The Raiders played well in their loss to the Chargers. Arizona’s defense looked particularly terrible in the loss and I don’t believe that will change in Las Vegas. NFL Week 2 Pick: Raiders

Chicago Bears (1-0) @ Green Bay Packers (0-1) Line: Packers by 9 1/2

It seems that every year Aaron Rodgers and the Packers have a terrible first week of the season and the media wonders if this is the year that the Packers will have a weak team. I won’t be a part of that nonsense. Rodgers will turn things around convincingly for Green Bay. Chicago quarterback Justin Fields won’t be leading the Bears to the playoffs any time soon. NFL Week 2 Pick: Packers

Monday, September 19th

Tennessee Titans (0-1) @ Buffalo Bills (1-0) Line: Bills by 9 1/2

The Bills proved me and everyone else wrong that said they should not be favored against the defending Super Bowl champions in Los Angeles last week. The Titans blew a big lead and had a brutal loss to the Giants. I won’t make the mistake of picking against Buffalo this time. The Bills will win this game by double digits. NFL Week 2 Pick: Bills

Minnesota Vikings (1-0) @ Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) Line: Eagles by 2 1/2

This game should be a shootout. Kirk Cousins has a career record of 2-9 on Monday Night Football. The Vikings were able to surprise the Packers last week but Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will put up some impressive rushing yards against Minnesota. NFL Week 2 Pick: Eagles
