NFL Gambling – The Thirsty Three

2021 Edition – Week One

These Pretzels Are Making Me Thirsty!

Welcome back my friends to the show the never ends. It’s been a long strange trip to get here but this offseason but we arrived. NFL football is back! With it, Bid Daddy Keith James and the Thirsty Three. NFL Gambling is one of my favorite past times and it doesn’t hurt making money every fall.

Every week I will give my top three picks where to lay money and how to increase your bankroll. I’ve looked over my past picks, learned from my mistakes and I am ready to give you three winners to take to the bank. So, grab your drink of choice, whatever that may be, and sit back and allow me to take you on an NFL gambling journey to riches.

Cincinnati Bengals vs Minnesota Vikings

Vikings -3

The Vikings are coming off a bad year last year that saw head coach Mike Zimmerman nearly blow a muscle in his temple due to a terrible defense. Most folks will remember Zimmerman’s Vikings giving up 7 rushing touchdowns to the Saints on Christmas Day. Alvin Kamara set a record with 6 rushing touchdowns and Zimmerman looked like he was going to have a stroke on national TV.

The Vikings aren’t as bad as they let on last year. This was a solid playoff team the year before that had injuries to key players and lost almost their entire secondary. Enter Patrick Peterson and Daniell Hunter. Just those two players alone will drastically improve the Viking’s defense and they added others as well.

Playing against the Bengals, at home in the dome, look for the Chef Dalvin Cook to get cooking and Kirk Cousins, Justin Jefferson, and Adam Thielen to continue to do damage.

The Bengals have improved but I’m worried about Joe Burrow’s total ACL tear late in the year last year and the Bengals defense is still one of the worst in the NFL. The Vikings will come out on fire and look to make another playoff run.

I love the Vikings -3 this week.

San Francisco 49ers vs. the Detroit Lions

49ers -7.5

The Lions are bad, I mean really bad. I mean if not for the Texans they would be 1-16 type of first overall pick bad. Texans may legit go 0-17. This spread seems low. Look for the line to move and don’t make it matter. The 49ers should destroy this team. Anytime an NFL game gets to more than one score, betters always need to worry about the backdoor. But I have no fears in this one. It’s a bad matchup for the Lions.

The 49er’s fierce pass rush that was decimated by injury last season will overpower the Lion’s decent offensive line. Jared Goff is a guy that can throw to a spot and that’s it. The problem these days is he doesn’t have Cooper Kupp or Robert Woods to throw to. He has Tyrell Williams and Quintez Cephus. The 49ers will be a problem for the Lions on both sides of the ball.

On offense, the Niners should be able to run it down the Lion’s 31st ranked run defense (2020) throats all game. In fantasy football, fire up your 49er offensive players. They are going to feast. Kittle and Mostert should have great games and Deebo, Aiyuk, and Sermon should all produce as well. This game could get out of hand early. The poor Lions fans are going to have to endure another year of terrible football in Motown.

Take the Niners 7.5

Green Bay Packers vs. the New Orleans Saints

Packers -3.5

There was a lot of drama in Green Bay this off-season. Aaron Rodgers has not been happy with the organization since they traded up to draft Jordan Love in the first round. Aaron Rodgers is a dude that holds grudges if you didn’t know. All he did was then go out and throw for 48 touchdowns on his way to a much-deserved MVP season.

Rodgers will not be back with the Packers in 2022. He said he seriously considered retiring. Rodgers isn’t young, he’s now 38 years old. He has nothing left to prove. But he’s great at playing QB in the NFL and he says the fire still burns. That fire is going to burn the Saints this week.

Playing on a neutral field in Jacksonville the Saints will have their hands full with Rodgers and company. This is a motivated team that is angry with the way the 2020 season ended. Rodgers and Davante Adams consider this their last dance and they are going to ball out. I don’t see another MVP type of season out of Rodgers (my bets on Brady) but I do believe the Packers will be a great team in 2021.

Their defense is solid, not great, but really good. Their offensive line is one of the best units in football, though playing without starting left tackle David Bakhtiari for at least the first six weeks will hurt. The Packers are more than their all-world QB, they are a legitimate super bowl contender and the Saints are a team in transition.

I love Jameis Winston the football player, I’m one of his last holdouts in the fan club and I think he plays great this year and gets a long-term deal, but in this game, playing without Michael Thomas and Tre’Quan Smith I see Winston struggling. Sean Payton is a great play-caller who has an excellent feel for down and distance but it’s going to take a few weeks for Winston and Payton to gel. Kamara will do some damage against an average Packers run defense but in the end, the Packers, playing on a neutral field will win this game handily.

Take the Packers -3.5

The more that changes, the more that stays the same

That’s it good people, feels good to be back. It’s strange, the more things change the more they stay the same. Here we are in 2021 and the poor Saints are once again playing outside of New Orleans due to Hurricane Ida. My heart goes out to that city, nothing but love for you New Orleans.

Detroit is bad at football as always, my heart goes out to their fans purely for football reasons. As a cubs fan, I can relate, the city of Detroit deserves a 3-5 year run of greatness sometime in their lifetime. Unfortunately, that run will not begin in 2021.

Football is back and the world feels right, now that the stigma of sports gambling has been lifted, go ahead and win some money this weekend with these picks.

Week One Bonus

I’m feeling so good, I’ll give you all a bonus.

Take the Rams vs. the Bears at -7.5.   This matchup is a tough one for the Bears. I don’t like the pass rush for the Rams against Andy Dalton and I don’t like McVay and Stafford vs. the inexperienced Bears secondary. This game feels like one of those prime-time games where fans all over the country say why the hell are the Chicago Bears on my TV on Sunday Night. Haha. Love my Bears, this feels like a blowout.

That one is on me good people, this is called the thirsty three for a reason.

Good luck making that money man!
