NFL Week 13 Point Spread Picks

Welcome to my week 13 NFL point spread picks column! I went 10-5 last week in my first column for SportsObsessive. I have an overall record of 101-79 on the season. This week I am picking a lot of visiting teams to cover the spread. You can always check out all of my previous picks from the link in my profile. Let me know what you think of my picks in the comments below. Let’s take a look at my point spread picks for this slate of 14 games in week 13.

Thursday, December 2nd

Dallas Cowboys (7-4) @ New Orleans Saints (5-6) Line: Cowboys by 4 1/2

The Cowboys and Saints both suffered losses on Thanksgiving Day. The Cowboys suffered a heartbreaking OT loss to the Raiders. The Saints were pummeled by the Bills in convincing fashion. The Cowboys had to be overjoyed to see Dak regain the form that he had shown earlier in the season. The Saints will be handing the QB reigns over to Mr. Everything Taysom Hill after their fourth consecutive loss last week. I expect the Cowboys to be able to go into New Orleans, to beat the Saints and cover the spread. Pick: Cowboys

Sunday, December 5th

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-3) @ Atlanta Falcons (5-6) Line: Buccaneers by 10 1/2

NFL MVP favorite Tom Brady is headed to Atlanta this week to take on the Falcons. The Buccaneers defeated the Colts last week while the Falcons bested the Jaguars. I am not convinced that the Falcons will be able to keep up with Tampa in this game. The Falcons have looked completely incompetent on offense and I expect that to continue this week against a stingy Buccaneers run defense. Pick: Buccaneers

Arizona Cardinals (9-2) @ Chicago Bears (4-7) Line: Cardinals by 7 1/2

The Cardinals are hoping to get their star QB Kyler Murray back from injury when they return to action this week following their week 12 bye. The Bears managed to hang on by the skin of their teeth on Thanksgiving for a victory against the winless Lions. It appears that Andy Dalton will get another start at QB this week after getting the nod last week against the Lions. Dalton looked decent against the Lions below average defense, however, I do believe that he will have a much tougher time against a very good Cardinals defense. Pick: Cardinals

Los Angeles Chargers (6-5) @ Cincinnati Bengals (7-4) Line: Bengals by 2 1/2

Last week the Chargers lost by 15 points at the Broncos. They have been a tough team to figure out this season. This appears on paper to be a great battle of 2nd year quarterbacks Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow. The Bengals are hoping to keep their momentum going after thrashing the Steelers in week 12. I like the Bengals and where they are going with revitalizing this franchise after not making the playoffs since 2015. Pick: Bengals

Minnesota Vikings (5-6) @ Detroit Lions (0-10-1) Line: Vikings by 9 1/2

Both teams are coming into the week off of losses in week 12. The Vikings need this win to stay in the playoff hunt in the NFC. The Lions already have their sights on next season. This line just feels a bit too large for as close as the Lions have been playing teams in their past few games. Although I don’t think that the Lions will win this week, I do believe that they will cover the spread against the Vikings. Pick: Lions

New York Giants (4-7) @ Miami Dolphins (5-7) Line: Dolphins by 3 1/2

The Giants came on top 13-7 in a defensive battle against the Eagles last week. The Dolphins and Tua Tagovailoa looked impressive last week. Tua appears to be improving with each game. Giants QB Daniel Jones appears to be rattled and indecisive when pressured. The Dolphins have an underrated defense that I expect to smother the Giants this week.  Pick: Dolphins

Philadelphia Eagles (5-7) @ New York Jets (3-8) Line: Eagles by 6 1/2

The Eagles took a step back in their loss to the Giants. They appeared to be a much better team on the field but it is very difficult to overcome 4 turnovers in the NFL. Jets rookie QB Zach Wilson made his return to the field last week for a victory over the Texans. The Jets are the worst team in the league at covering the spread this season with a record of 3-8 against the spread. I do think that the Eagles are a more talented team than their record indicates and I am taking them to cover the spread and defeat the Jets. Pick: Eagles

Indianapolis Colts (6-6) @ Houston Texans (2-9) Line: Colts by 8 1/2

All world RB Jonathan Taylor continues to insert his name into the NFL MVP candidate conversation, a spot that is normally only reserved for quarterbacks. He has 1,205 yards rushing and 14 TD’s. He also has tallied an additional 336 yards and 2 TD’s receiving. The Texans have the second worst run defense in the league. I think that you probably realize where I am going with this game. Pick: Colts

Washington Football Team (5-6) @ Las Vegas Raiders (6-5) Line: Raiders by 2 1/2

The Football Team have won 3 games in a row and have improbably put themselves right back into the thick of the NFC playoff race. If the playoffs were held today The Football Team would have the last wild card spot locked up. Taylor Heinicke has looked surprisingly efficient at times for The Football Team. At the very least he has earned himself a shot to be their QB next season. He has done an admirable job filling in for injured QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Raiders shockingly beat the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day. Who leads the NFL in passing yards? Give yourself a round of applause if you said Raiders QB Derek Carr. I like the Football Team to cover the spread in a very close game. Pick: Football Team

Jacksonville Jaguars (2-9) @ Los Angeles Rams (7-4) Line: Rams by 12 1/2

Trevor Lawrence has been disappointing in his first season with the Jaguars and it won’t get any easier going up against a good Rams defense. The Rams have lost 3 games in a row but their offense looked to be a bit more in sync last week as Odell Beckham had one of his best games since his glory days with the New York Giants. I like the Jaguars to be able to cover this large spread but I don’t think that they will actually win the game. Pick: Jaguars

Baltimore Ravens (8-3) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (5-5-1) Line: Ravens by 4 1/2

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger and Ravens QB Lamar Jackson will try to overcome subpar efforts in their contests last week. Big Ben threw 2 interceptions and was sacked 3 times in their loss to the Bengals. Lamar threw 4 interceptions and was sacked twice while somehow still leading the Ravens to a win against the Browns. With Lamar being an additional week removed from his mysterious illness that kept him off the field in week 11 I am going to favor the Ravens to cover the spread and win this week. Pick: Ravens

San Francisco 49ers (6-5) @ Seattle Seahawks (3-8) Line: 49ers by 3 1/2

The 49ers appear to be hitting their stride on offense in winning 4 of their last 5 games. Russell Wilson has not appeared to be the same QB since his finger injury and their offense has suffered mightily. This appears to be a lost season for the Seahawks and I don’t think that they will have a chance to turn it around this season. Pick: 49ers (Pick of the Week)

Denver Broncos (6-5) @ Kansas City Chiefs (7-4) Line: Chiefs by 9 1/2

Denver have outplayed the pundits preseason predictions this year. It appears that Denver made the right choice at QB by selecting Teddy Bridgewater as their starting QB over Drew Lock. After a slow start the Chiefs appear to be coming off their bye week in full stride. They have won 4 games in a row. The Chiefs are one of the worst teams against the spread in the past season and a half. They are 6-16 against the spread in their past 22 contests. I expect the Broncos to lose the game but to still manage to cover the spread in a close game. Pick: Broncos

Monday, December 6th

New England Patriots (8-4) @ Buffalo Bills (7-4) Line: Bills by 2 1/2

The Patriots have won six in a row and are the hottest team in the NFL. They are surprisingly a legitimate threat in the AFC. Mac Jones continues to make a solid case to be the offensive rookie of the year. This game should have a lot of influence on the final standings in the AFC East. The Bills have been alternating great performances with terrible performances over their previous six games. Last week the Bills had a great game against the Saints. This week I am expecting the Patriots to not only cover the spread but also win the game. Pick: Patriots
