Andy Ruiz Hires Trainer Eddy Reynoso

Andy Ruiz has had quite a year.

On June 1, 2019, he shocked the world by beating Anthony Joshua for the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO titles, titles he held onto for six months when he dropped them back to AJ in their rematch.

It was in the aftermath of this loss that his then trainer, Mandy Robles, found himself fired after he claimed that nobody could control Ruiz during training camp and that a lot of the blame for his defeat should be laid at his manager’s door.

Considering that happens to be Ruiz Sr. then I have no idea what Robles thought would happen here.

But it seems that his career might be about to take an upward turn, as it’s been announced that Eddy Reynoso will be taking over the reins and whipping Ruiz Jr. into shape.

Eddy Reynoso has one of the most impressive CVs in boxing currently, being the mastermind behind Canelo Alvarez amongst others, and if anyone can get Andy Ruiz Jr. back on track and back in the title picture, then it’s him.

Maybe he’s not this generation’s Buster Douglas after all.
